Before GoNextWorld, my resume includes a few positions in the sales field. I was a telemarketer, a business to business rep, and even a door to door salesman.
I didn't take these because they were my dream jobs. Mostly I took these jobs to help pay the bills. But I also tried these jobs to teach myself to be comfortable in any situation. It was a way to test myself. I learned the hard way that belief in the product is the main ingredient if you don't want to be pushed aside. ( I actually think I learned that lesson from an 8th grade dance).
People like Ellis from "Die hard" , are the type of people that give salesmen a bad name. But, generally most of the people are not like him. What you do see is a bunch of people that are selling something they do not believe in. They are doing it for a paycheck and nothing else.
These people are easy to spot.
These people are the ones that do not succeed.
These are the people that get the door closed on them quickly.
For the most part, I can look into the person's eyes and see if he/she actually believes in the product they are selling. If they do not, there is no/very little fight in them.
If the person has a certain level of belief in their product/service, then you will see it in their eyes. Absolute belief in something is tough, but conveying your belief in something to someone else is the really difficult part.
These are the ones that are worth listening to.
These are the ones that have something that could add value to your life.
These are the ones that succeed.
In one way or another, I think everyone is a salesman. When it comes to a job, a relationship, or even life in general, any advancements will require selling or presenting something in a good way - even one's own self. You just gotta look into their eyes to see if they actually believe in it.
If you dont have any fight in ya, prepare to be left outside in the cold...
