different is good...

My dad turned 62 yesterday.  For years, there has been this constant joke between us that I would get him a Dodge Viper, his absolute dream car, for his retirement gift at 62.

To paint you a picture of why this joke started in the first place, you must first understand a little about who he is.  He's one of those guys that can fix anything.  If there was something to repair, chances are that we would have what it takes somewhere in the garage.

That is why he always drove cars that were not...lets just say...physically aesthetic to the eye.  He woud get cars for very cheap and keep them running for years on a dime.  He takes much more pride in keeping something running than having to buy something brand new.  I learned that tubing, a vice, and some zip ties can pretty much fix anything.  He is a great problem solver and I have always idolized that about him.

I have always looked at him as he was just different.

And he works extremely hard.  If there was one thing i hope I inherited from his DNA (no, not his height) was his work ethic.  He taught me to always finish what I start.

Until I met an entrepreneur named Milo and fell in love with the business world, I wanted to follow in my dad's footsteps.  Growing up, I heard tons of crazy stories of when he was in the Navy for Vietnam.  His memories of close calls, the days he spent in S.E.R.E school, and even the few sessions he was able to train with the SEALs, were some of the things I wanted to live myself.

I owe him a lot and that is why I wanted to get him a car that didnt need POR 15 on the body to keep it running.

Anyways, he didn't retire yesterday. Thats good because I don't even think I can afford to get him a box of corn flakes. That gives me at least one more year to make it happen.

There is no doubt that DNA and genetics play a big role in making people the way they are.  This goes for businesses too.   I can relate this to GoNextWorld. Our mixture of minds, ideas, and strengths is what makes us who we are.  Its our DNA that makes us go against the status quo.   We take pride in NOT being one of those common cookie cut tech companies.  I am especially proud of our DNA.

When I look at GoNextWorld, there's one word that comes to my mind and I hope yours....different.
